Catch up with KCH

February 2023

Scouts come to visit

We had a brilliant day when the Scouts of Briar Rose Junior School visited. We were delighted with their kind and generous donations too.

Posho Mill

Posho Mill is one of KCH's income generating projects where we mill nutritional ugali and porridge flour. Thanks to the team for all their hard work.

Celebrating Birthdays

Birthdays are a special time for the children at KCH. In celebration of Theresias birthday and thanks to their sponsor, Redempta and Theresia shared birthday cake with the rest of the children. Even Theresia's music tutor got a slice of cake! We love celebrating the children's special day with them.

New school year at Suswa

The CEO and Managers welcomed the 39 new girls, both borders and day scholards who've joined the Suswa school this year. What a warm welcome they received in return. We wish them all well with their studies.

Suswa update

During our recent visit to Suswa we enjoyed time in the classrooms with theh girls where they were working hard, engaged and enthusiastic about their learning. We also enjoyed a delicious and nutritious lunch with the girls, and KCH managers undertook this years class 8's mentorship sessions.

Admissions

At the beginning of the month the Social Work department were busy with Form one admissions of our children to various Secondary schools across the country. We normally have over 30 pupils transitioning to higher learning (Secondary, Tertiary and Universities) every year in the photos you can see them collecting their supplies. We couldn't be prouder of them.

Hello to the team

Madam Joyce is such an awesome Receptionist. She makes everyone feel very welcome on arriving at KCH and we appreciate all her hard work.

We also have a highly qualified team of dedicated and committed kitchen staff who ensure timely production of meals for the children, school and even outside catering. It's always busy in the kitchens and we are very thankful for their hard work.

Our bakery staff are also always very busy with the production of bread and pastries, fulfilling orders from various institutions including the Jonathan Gloag Academy who are one of the bakeries biggest clients. Our Kelvin Loaf bakery is just one of our income generation projects developed to support the orphanage.

Our thrift shop is doing well and we continue to appeal to well wishers to support the home by way of donating clothes, shoes, toys, stationery and any other household items.
