October 2023

World Teachers Day

On the 5th October we celebrated World Teachers Day. Our fabulous team at Suswa guide, encourage and educate our young girls so they may reach their full potential. We spent the day with them to thank them for all they do.

Jonathan Gloag Visit

Our managers went for a visit to JGA.

World Mental Health Day

We celebrated World Mental Health Day on 10th October. At Kenya Children's Homes we provide education, guidance, mentoring, peer support and prioritise the health and wellbeing of all our young people so they may thrive and meet their potential.

International Day of the Girl Child

On 11th October we celebrated International Day of the Girl Child, a day dedicated to celebrating the potential of girls and addressing the unique challenges they face. It is a day to remind us all that every girl deserves the same opportunities to thrive, learn and lead. We celebrated with the girls at Suswa and a joyous day was had by all.

World Food Day

On 16th october we celebrated World Food Day. We work hard to provide the children and young people in our care with nutritious, delicious food to help keep them healthy, and help them to grow and reach their potential. A good breakfast sets them up for the day so they can concentrate on their lessons. We also teach them how to grow their own food and how to cook, vital life skills for a healthy future.

International Day for the Eradication of Poverty

On the 17th October we marked International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, karked globally to raise awareness and encourage discussion. Poverty is something many of the children and young people in our care experience, negatively impacting their young lives. We monitor their wellbeing, provide education and offer opportunities for them to thrive. We also offer them the chance to just be children and to play.

CM Advocates visit

We were delighted to welcome CM Advocates to KCH. They visited to interact with the children and during our tour loved and appreciated the various income generating activities we undertake. They told us the highlight was the bakery products and termed it 'Donuts Day'

We showed our guests around Posho Mill where we mill our Ugali flour and at the end of the day thanked them for their wonderful donations and for coming to visit.
