Kenya Children’s Home

Kenya Children’s Home (KCH) is our flagship project in Kenya.  Operating as an independent home for orphans, abandoned and destitute children, KCH has cared for more than 6,000 children from birth to adulthood since it was established.

We have 60 children resident at the home with numbers varying depending on how many new children arrive each week and how many have left because they have been successfully adopted by families within Kenya or have been re-housed through our family Outreach project.

The home and its facilities have changed dramatically since the Balcraig Foundation took over its management in 2002, with the old dormitory accommodation being replaced by six family units. Each ‘house’ provides shelter for 12-16 children with a dedicated house mother providing maternal care and the children in each house living as siblings, creating as close to a family environment as possible.

All of our children receive a high standard of full-time education with a quarter of the home’s expenditure dedicated to education and training.  Most of our children attend Jonathan Gloag Academy which was a further facility built by the Balcraig Foundation in 2002 to ensure that the KCH children receive the highest possible standard of education.

To sponsor a child for £35 per month, please see the Get Involved section of our website.
